Legacy system data integration: if the system can't change, start from the path people already use

Many companies treat "the system is too old" or "it's only reachable from the internal network" as proof that automation is off the table. It is really just an engineering constraint. If there is no API, automate the path a person already takes.

What you'll notice

  • Each location's data lives only on local machines. To see it, head office has to log in to each branch one at a time.
  • Every month, someone is assigned to go through each site and copy numbers off the screen by hand.
  • When you ask the vendor about an integration, the answer is "the system is too old to support that."

Where it usually gets stuck

  • Legacy systems have no external API. The data is on the screen, not behind an interface.
  • Newer operating systems keep dropping support for older VPN types, so even logging in by hand is getting harder.
  • Changing existing equipment is risky, and the vendor often no longer supports it.

How we fix it

We look at how your team actually works before deciding what to change and with what. These are the methods this kind of problem usually calls for. Automation, AI and custom code are tools among them.

  • Build a complete VPN tunnel inside a Docker container. None of the existing equipment at any location has to change.
  • Run browser automation inside the container to log in to the system and pull the records you need.
  • Process locations one after another automatically and write the results to a cloud database.
  • Run it on a schedule, so head office opens one dashboard and sees every location's status and any exceptions.

Tell us which system the data is stuck in and how people log in today. We'll look at whether it can be pulled out from there.
